Clare defaulters pay Revenue more than €450,000


REVENUE’S published defaulters list for the fourth quarter of 2012 features three settlements/determinations made with Clare people/businesses, which come to a total of €457,147.

 

Meanwhile, fines issued in the county for other Revenue-related cases come to an additional €15,250.

Computer and IT Consultants Macm Information Design Ltd, with an address at 39 Abbeyville, Clare Road, Ennis is listed under the non-operation of PAYE/PRSI revenue audit case. They reached a settlement/determination with Revenue of €347,147.83 in respect of €165,864.55 tax owed, €131,523.91 was accumulated interest and €49,759.37 of which was as a result of penalties.

Meanwhile, fuel merchant Stephen McNamara of The Orchards, Ballycannon North, Meelick reached a settlement for €70,000 in relation to the under-declaration of income tax. The amount of tax owed was €27,000, an additional €16,000 was owed in interest, while €27,000 was penalties.

Publican Philip Ryan of Clearwater, Brickhill East, Cratloe also settled with Revenue in relation to the under-declaration of income tax in the amount of €40,000. The publican owed €25,696.79 in tax, a further €6,594.17 in interest and a further €7,709.04 in penalties.

Two individuals in Clare failed to lodge income tax returns and were fined. These included publican Kenneth Naughton of 3 Cois na Sionna, O’Briensbridge, who received €2,500 of a fine in respect of two charges. Bernard McDonagh of 1 Ballymurtagh Cross, Shannon was also fined in respect of failing to lodge income tax returns. He had one charge and received a €3,000 fine.

Three of 23 people nationwide cited on the defaulters’ list for the illegal selling of cigarettes were from Clare. These included barman Alves Silvo of Monvana, Kilrush, who was fined €3,500 in respect of one charge. Catherine Keane of Glenwood, Sixmilebridge, received a fine of €3,000 and Raphael O’Sullivan, a courier, of 2 Carrigoran, Newmarket-on-Fergus, was also fined €3,250 in respect of the same charge.

In South Galway, there were a number of individuals fined in relation to the failure to lodge income tax returns. These included: Kevin Moore, a company director and landlord with an address at Cuileann, Stradbally North, Clarinbridge, who was fined €10,000 in respect of two charges; plasterer Jarlath Ginty of Stradbally North, Clarinbridge who was fined €5,000; stonemason Manuel Schickor of Tonroe, Towerview, Clarinbridge, was also fined €5,000; farmer Thomas Mcloughlin of Grannagh, Ardrahan was fined €3,250 in respect of three charges; carpenter Paul Stankard, Furzy Park, Ardrahan was fined €2,500 and Garret Byrne of Cloonasee Kinvara, a bookkeeper and taxation adviser, was fined €1,250.

Wholefood distributor Michael Callanan of Rathcosgrove, Ardrahan; software developer Eric Cullin of 2 Stoneywood, Clarinbridge; plumber John Neilan of Glenbrack, Gort; Gerry Hennelly of Labane, Ardrahan, who is involved in auctioneering and property rental, Sean Madden of Dunkellin, Kilcolgan, who works in engineering works and property development and auctioneer Shauna Edel McGann of 3 Aran Road, Ballindereen, Kilcolgan were also fined €1,250 for the same charge. Michael Greaney Kyleely More, Kilcolgan painter and decorator, was fined €750.
