Changes to Clare senior team in 2010

THE Clare senior camogie team has commenced preparations for the 2010 season under new manager Patsy Fahy, who is joined in the back room team by Tom Hogan (Kilmaley).
Tom has previously been involved with underage camogie teams in the county and also was an officer of Bord na nÓg. Eamon O’Loughlin of St Joseph’s will also be involved. He has been a mentor with teams in which many of these girls played from U-14 up to U-18. Catherine O’Loughlin will also be involved and this gives the management the experience needed in moving forward.
The management now will be planning for the year ahead without the services of Dee Corcoran and Aoife Ryan. Both these players are based in Dublin and have played with the adult teams at county level for the last 11 years.
Denise Lynch, Claire Commane and Sharon O’Loughlin have yet to decide whether or not they will be available for the season ahead. Carina Roseingrave is likely to miss the league campaign due to injury.
The team is preparing for the first round of the league against Galway on February 28. They played a challenge game against Limerick recently and won that on a 3-7 to 0-8 scoreline. Many of the girls will be in action for the colleges over the coming weekends with Ashbourne and Purcell Cup games.
New manager Fahy addressed last week’s board meeting and outlined his plans for the season.

Transfers
THE February board meeting last week was the deadline for transfers within the county after last year’s review of the bylaws. Those moving included six girls from Kilnamona to Crusheen.
They are all from Crusheen and played with Kilnamona until the formation of the Crusheen club last year. These are Anne Marie McMahon, Mary Roseingrave, Theresa Roseingrave, Jacinta O’Grady, Clare O’Grady and Aisling Dillon. Sinéad O’Loughlin also transferred from Kilnamona to her home parish of Inagh, who are now in the intermediate grade after winning the junior championship last year. Leah O’Keeffe transferred from Broadford to Kilkishen. Tulla girls, Gráinne Corry and the McNamara sisters, moved back from Broadford to Tulla as Tulla try to establish an intermediate team. Áine Dinan and Ellen Solan have returned to Tulla from Bodyke.
There was movement at underage too, where girls from Bodyke transferred to Feakle and Ogonnelloe as the Bodyke club is unable to field in underage competition due to lack of numbers.

Gradings
GRADINGS were ratified for the 2010 season with Kilnamona regrading, due to lack numbers, to junior level where the numbers for competition are 13-a-side. Bodyke were regraded to intermediate, while they will amalgamate with Tulla to field in the senior competition. Scariff and Ogonnelloe also amalgamated for the senior competitions. Ballyea are entering into the junior league for the first time. Newmarket-on-Fergus, Kilkishen, Kilmaley and Whitegate are all to field second teams and these will be at junior grade.

Fixtures
IT was decided to keep the U-12 competition in the early part of the year. Clubs also were given a choice between early season or late summer for the U-18 championship and they went with the late summer option. Dates will now be finalised by the fixtures committee and draws made for ratification at the special fixtures meeting on Thursday, February 18 at 8.30pm in the Auburn Lodge Hotel, Ennis.

Referees’ course
THIS Saturday, the board will host a referees’ course at Clareabbey, which is open to all members of the association. All participants must be over 16.
