Caitríona’s exhibition inspired by the inner world

AN exhibition of new works by artist Caitríona Jackson is currently on show in the foyer of the County Museum, Ennis and can be viewed until December 21.

Her work has been influenced by the deep encounters she was honoured to have over the course of her 20-year career as a psychotherapist as well as by her own journeys into many aspects of the healing arts
Caitríona now spends as much time as possible in her studio, continuing to enjoy external input and striving for the delicate balance between self-exploration and communication that she considers essential to her work.
The work in this exhibition is informed and inspired by the inner world of emotional and spiritual process, by points of connection with the collective unconscious, and ultimately by the ‘fertile void’ from which acts of creation flow, rather than by objects or scenes from visible reality.
A degree of intentional composition combined with the texture and tactile quality produced by collage and layering of paint acts as a container for and gives form to inner process.  Caitríona allows the play of chance accidents and spontaneous mark making to facilitate the energetic flow of the unconscious to take form on the canvas. She uses colour and line to bring zest and immediacy to the work.
