Ballyea stripped of minor B title

Ballyea have been stripped of the minor B hurling title after an investigation by Bord na nÓg found that they fielded an illegal team in the final against Bodyke-Tulla, a game which Ballyea won comfortably on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-5

In that game, Ballyea included Stan Lineen and Martin O’Leary from Kilmihil in their line-up despite a decision taken at an earlier meeting of the board that these players could not play at minor level with the club.
Following the final, the board carried out an investigation arising from which they recommended that Ballyea forfeit the title, that the chairman and secretary of the Ballyea club be suspended for 12 weeks each and that a fine of €1,000 be imposed on the club. The Ballyea club chairman is Michael Keane and the secretary is Geraldine Kilbane.
Bord na nÓg informed the county board of their recommendations and the CCC of the county body met last week when, it is understood, they ratified the Bord na nÓg findings.
